Harper Zoe - Newborn

I’d like you to read a little story… The story of an incredible little girl called Harper and her equally incredible family. At 33.5 weeks pregnant, Harper’s parents Hayley and Drew found out that Harper had what’s called a congenital diaphragmatic hernia. A condition where her abdominal organs were developing in her chest cavity instead of her abdomen affecting the growth of the organs and compressing her heart and lungs. This condition affects in 1 in 2500 babies and of that, sadly 1 in 3 don't survive. At birth Harper was immediately taken by the Neonatal team to be sedated and ventilated. Within 48 hours of her arrival Harper had major surgery to move her organs back into the correct position. She spent five days in PICU hooked up to countless machines unable to be held by her parents. Harper not only made it through her surgery with minimal complications but her recovery exceeded the expectations of her medical team who now believe she will not suffer any long term effects from her condition. After just over two weeks in hospital, she made it home to greet her big brother Chase on his 2nd birthday... And on her 26th day, she came to visit me :) :) :) I'll be posting some beautiful images from this session but I wanted to do something really special for Harper and her family by creating something signifying her strength and most incredible recovery... and this was their surprise. Miss Harper, you are destined for great things in this life… Never forget how truly special you are. I can't wait to see you grow and I'm so honoured to have been able to capture this moment for you and your family.
